My reflection this week takes the form of an interpretive dance, though not performed by me. I have actually been instructed in the art of traditional Bavarian Schuhplattler dancing, which will serve me well at Oktoberfest, I´m sure. At any rate, I should work harder to incorporate this into our next composition.
Found some Ostrock to share with Michael, it`s pretty awesome. Himmelblauer Trabant is my new favorite song. For serious.
I really don`t remember much of what happened yesterday as I was running on about four hours of sleep and about as many cups of coffee, so I was just thankful to survive. I know I enjoyed doing our composition, even if it wasn`t received as intended, and I think that was the take home message for me-that the audience will take something else away from what we do than what we originally intend and that is something we need to consider when we are composing. I guess my only other bit of 0,02€ (that`s 2 cents..) is that some clarity and uniformity in directions given to students by instructors prior to an assignment being handed in. There were some directions that were tacked on yesterday five minutes before we performed that none of us had been apprised of the week before, and I believe we were docked points for that. In the future, it would be nice for assignments to be given in an organized fashion, such that directions and expectations are made explicit to all students at the same time, and not passed down the grapevine, as it were, as this leads to confusion.

Research
So, on many of my previous posts I have sammelte (collected) sources and contacts for research both here and in Berlin. To recap:
Prior to heading to Berlin my research here involves a correspondence with Political Science graduate students and professors researching Muslims in Europe, and heeding their advice for where to go with my research. Additionally I will be thoroughly researching the language and intricacies of the 2005 headscarf/integration legislation that was passed, before I embark, so that I may ask pertinent questions without offending my interviewees. Furthermore, I have been avidly perusing NYT pieces on Turkey, Deutschtürken, and Turkish-Kuridsh relations so that I have a background knowledge on which to build my research foundation.
Und so weiter und so fort aber ich glaub das reicht für jetzt.

- Meeting with The Left Party (Die Linke) and possibly the Social Democrats (Sozial Demokratische Partei)
- Meeting with the head of the Islamic Community organization in Germany (Hamburg)
- Meeting with community and business leaders in Kreuzberg with Turkish ties
- Talking to faculty at the Politikwissenschaft/ Poli Sci dept. at HUBerlin
- After meeting with the above, I will determine if other meetings within Islamic organizations will be feasible. I have experience with these groups in Berlin previously, but this may come down to how much time I have.
